Highland Girls, Highland Gathering!

We had a wonderful day at the Braemar Gathering in Aberdeenshire, 60 miles west of Aberdeen in Royal Deeside. It’s probably the most famous highland games in the world, not least because Her Majesty The Queen graces it with her presence together with members of the Royal family and her guests.

There are so many things to watch – from tossing the caber (a big tree trunk which has to be thrown and ideally land in the 12 o’clock position) highland dancing, piping, tugs of war, the sack race for the children to amazing field and track events.

About 18,000 people gather from all over the world.

This is an annual event and we wouldn’t miss it!
